Privacy Policy

gilika is built privacy-first. The one thing you care about — your code — never leaves your browser and is never sent to or stored on our servers. This policy explains the limited data we do handle so you can use the service with confidence.

Your code stays on your device

All syntax highlighting and image rendering happen locally in your browser. Your code snippet lives only in the editor’s in-memory state and is never transmitted over the network, logged, or saved — not even when you save a style or export an image. You can verify this yourself in your browser’s Network tab. See how it works for the technical detail.

What we do collect

  • Account details. If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication details through our auth provider, Supabase. Optional sign-in with Google shares only your basic profile (name and email) with us.
  • Saved styles. When a Pro user saves a style, we store only the visual configuration (theme, background, font, aspect ratio, window chrome, and highlight settings). The code is stripped before saving and never reaches our database.
  • Billing data. Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we keep only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status to unlock Pro features.
  • Local browser storage.We use your browser’s localStorage to count your free monthly exports and a strictly-necessary cookie to keep you signed in. This data stays in your browser. See our Cookie Policy for the full detail.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of processors to run the service: Supabase for authentication and database storage of accounts and saved styles, and Stripefor payment processing. Your account and saved-style data is hosted in the European Union — Supabase’s West EU region (Ireland, eu-west-1). Each provider handles your data under its own privacy terms. We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your rights & retention

You can delete your saved styles at any time from your dashboard, and manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe customer portal. To delete your account and associated data entirely, contact us at the address below. We retain account and subscription data only for as long as your account is active or as required for billing and legal obligations.
