What is gilika?

gilika is a privacy-first tool for turning code snippets into beautiful, shareable images. You paste your code, style it, and export a polished PNG, or copy it to your clipboard. Unlike server-side code-image tools that upload your code to a third party to render it, gilika renders everything in your browser, so your code never leaves your device.

The name

“gilika” is our own word: short, memorable, and easy to type. It is the name of this code-to-image tool and nothing else; if you searched for it and landed here, you are in the right place. We chose something distinctive on purpose, so that “gilika” can mean exactly one thing: the fastest private way to make a code snippet look good.

Why we built it

Sharing a snippet as a pretty image is a small thing developers do constantly, in READMEs, blog posts, slides, and social media. But most tools render your code on a server, which means uploading it to a third party. For anyone working with proprietary code, internal tooling, or anything under NDA, that is a real concern. We built gilika so the one thing you care about, your code, stays on your machine. See exactly how.

What gilika does

Paste code in any of 13 languages, customize the theme, background, window chrome, and aspect ratio, then export a PNG or copy the image to your clipboard, all without a single byte of your code leaving the page. The editor is free to use anonymously; a Pro plan adds unlimited exports and saved styles. Curious about the details? Read the FAQ.
